Reinforce one plan first

The strongest practical upgrade rule is to make the offered upgrades serve one coherent plan. A ram setup has documented synergy between speed, melee damage and stun effects, so those categories reinforce the same close-range attack pattern.

A turret-and-arrows run demonstrates a different priority set. It takes a large turret attack-range increase and then an arrow-damage increase, showing how ranged choices can be selected to strengthen reach and arrow output within the same setup.

Modules themselves can be improved through extra damage, lower cooldowns, automation and additional effects. Artifacts can reinforce melee damage, magic, arrows, fire effects, speed, or interact with other upgrades you already have. That gives you two layers for specialization: what the module does and what the broader artifact package amplifies.

Barracks are another documented module route because they deploy soldiers for you. The wider arsenal also includes alternatives such as mortars, mines and side cannons, so upgrade priority should follow the actual module role you have committed to for the run.

Upgrade and patch FAQ

Why should an old upgrade ranking be treated carefully?
Official hotfixes have already changed Front Barrack base damage, Electric Mage damage and stun, Spider speed, Top Mortar projectile count, Back Turret strength and Fire Mage damage. Exact relative strength can therefore move between patches.
What should I do when an offered upgrade supports a different plan?
Keep prioritizing effects that reinforce the build’s existing role. For the documented ram example that means speed, melee and stun; for other modules, use the available damage, cooldown, automation or effect upgrades that deepen the module’s job.
How do artifacts fit into upgrade priority?
Use artifacts as another specialization layer. Their documented bonuses include melee damage, magic, arrows, fire effects and speed, including interactions with upgrades you already have.
What does the turret example teach about choice order?
The demonstrated run values a large turret attack-range increase and also takes more arrow damage. The useful lesson is to select improvements that keep pushing the same ranged package and its core bonuses.
